Pen and watercolour weekend workshop with Robin Hicks
Join our weekend workshop at Ballanee Farm, Meningie to learn how to create fresh and lively paintings using watercolour and pen and ink wash techniques with established artist and tutor, Robin Hicks. This workshop is designed to support you to develop skills and confidence to create spontaneous and fresh artworks. Absolute beginners to experienced artists welcome.

Saturday 3rd May: 10.30am - 4.00pm
Sunday 4th May: 10.00 am - 2.30 pm
Robin Hicks - your tutor
Robin is a multi-award winning artist, participating in numerous exhibitions in Australia and internationally. She is currently represented by and a featured artist for Bluethumb Online Art Gallery and has also been featured by FabrianoInAcquarello 2020, and 2022, Italy and the See Me exhibition, Times Square, New York.

What should I bring?
Comfortable clothes - layers for changeable weather
Watercolour paints:
Paints in tubes only, a minimum of the 3 primary colours, with a warm and cool of each, plus an earth colour, with suggestions below:
Ultramarine/Cobalt Blue
Cerulean/Manganese Blue
Cadmium/Spectrum Red
Alizarin Red/Rose Madder
Cadmium/Spectrum Yellow
Hansa/Aso Yellow
Burnt Umber
Yellow Ochre/Australian Red Gold
Raw Sienna/Burnt Sienna
Pen/s:
One black ink waterproof pen 0.3, 0.5 or 0.7 is ideal.Pencil/s:
One graphite pencil, e.g. HBSurfaces:
White (optional)Watercolour paper - 300gsm, medium grain, approx 37 x 26 or cut to around that size. Suggested brands: Arches, Canson, Fabriano, Saunders
One sketch pad/mixed media paper.
Brushes:
At least three watrercolour brushes: large, medium and small.
Palette, water container:
A watercolour palette - with several wells and a mixing area/s. A plate for mixing and an ice tray work well too. We will have some to borrow.
A medium-large jar or plastic container (e.g. 500 ml honey container) for water.
The materials list will be confirmed in the week prior to the first session and some materials will be available to borrow or for purchase from Robin.

The Cottage No.12 on North is a delightful bed and breakfast close to Ballanee Farm in Meningie, hosted by a local Meningie family. Phone Kirsty on 0428 751 250.
Waterfront Motel - very close to Ballanee Farm and on the shore of Lake Albert with a very good restaurant.
Lake Albert Caravan Park - on the other side of the township from Ballanee Farm, also on the lake shore, a beautiful park with a range of cabin or camping options opposite the Cheese Factory restaurant.
